神というと、GODに象徴される【創造主】的な、一番偉い神様を想像します

神道（しんとう）は、日本の宗教。

山や川などの自然や自然現象、また古事記などの神話に残る祖霊たる神、

怨念を残して死んだ者などを敬い、

それらに八百万の神を見いだす多神教。

自然と神とは一体的に認識され、神と人間とを取り結ぶ具体的作法が祭祀であり、

その祭祀を行う場所が神社であり、聖域とされた

されています。

自然神、神話神、人間神、精霊などが神様と呼ばれています。

八百万の神といいますが、存在しているものの全てに宿っているイメージです。
